Projects and Grant Usage
Past Projects:
- The HealthProm project "Supporting young disabled children and their families in KR" was funded by the Big Lottery Fund from 2008-2011. The main goal was to improve the lives of disabled children through our 2 partners in Bishkek and Bokonbaevo. The budget for Kyrgyzstan was about 150,000 GBP for three years. Its objectives were to build capacity of partners, open day care centers and increase public awareness of disability issues.
- With Soros funding we organized and conducted a major international conference on child disability issues in March of 2011; this funding was also used to organize a study visit to Macedonia in April 2011 for Kyrgyzstan participants representing 7 organizations. The budget accounted for 32,000 USD.
- Beginning in 2011 we started an ICCO funded project called "Increasing access for children with intellectual disabilities to basic services through empowerment of parents and parents' groups." It is mainly implemented in Talas oblast, but also includes the Chuy and Issyk-Kul regions. Its budget totaled 165,562 euro.
- In April 2012 we successfully completed a 6-month project funded by the Soros Foundation which prepared socially active citizen journalists to address the issues of disabled children in the Talas region. Its budget was 9,968 USD.
- From August 2012 – August 2013 we finished a project "Preventing deinstitutionalization of children, especially with disabilities, and creating conditions for their rehabilitation" funded by the grant provided through the social contracting scheme of the Ministry of Social Development. The budget was 419,870 soms.
- In the period of September 2013 – February 2014, Kelechek HP successfully implemented a short-term project – “Accessible School Buildings and Right to Education” with a 2,305 USD budget funded by the Democracy Commission.
- During September 2013 - June 2014 we sucessfully implemented a project on providing access to basic education for children in the Psychoneurological boarding institution with a budget of 21,049 USD supported by a grant from the Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan.
- Since September 2013, together with HealthProm and seven other NGOs, we have been implementing a three-year partnership project "Supporting children with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan" funded by the Big Lottery Fund. The project is implemented in all 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan. The overall budget 500,000 GBP.
